New England Celtic Arts will present the legendary Newfoundland band The Irish Descendants at venues in Rumford, Farmington and Portland this month.
 
The dates, times and places are:
 Wednesday, March 22, 7 p.m. at 49 Franklin, 49 Franklin St., Rumford; Thursday, March 23, 7 p.m. at Old South Church, 235 Main St., Farmington and Friday, March 24, 7:30 p.m. at Maine Irish Heritage Center, 34 Gray St., Portland.
 
The band’s award-winning recordings range from lilting ballads to toe-tapping reels. To date, the band has sold half a million albums. Having toured extensively throughout North America, The Irish Descendants have performed at The Smithsonian in Washington, D.C., and played with many of the nation’s best symphony orchestras. The band has been led by founding member Con O’Brien, one of Newfoundland’s most recognized entertainers because of his rich baritone voice.
