PITTSFIELD (AP) — Maine State Police say two drivers are in critical condition following a wrong-way crash on Interstate 95 in Pittsfield.
Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland says a truck driver was heading southbound in the northbound lanes of I-95 just before 7 p.m. Sunday. Police tried to divert the driver, identified as 70-year-old Hugh Brawn, of Clinton, Maine, but didn’t arrive in time. The car hit a northbound vehicle driven by 19-year-old Tristan Kaldenberg, of Littleton, Massachusetts.
McCausland says Brawn was hospitalized with injuries considered life-threatening. Kaldenberg also suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to the hospital.
