LEWISTON — Creative Artisans of Maine at Provenchers has announced its upcoming Festival of Learning events. All classes will be held at 299 River Road.
Parchment craft classes: Saturdays March 18, 25 and April 1, 10 a.m. to noon. Parchment craft, also known as also known as pergamano, is the art of embellishing and decorating parchment paper through the use of techniques such as embossing, perforating, stippling, cutting and coloring. Tools and supplies will be provided. Tuition: $25 for series of three beginner classes.
Once participants have learned basic techniques, they can continue developing the craft in an advanced weekly two-hour card class held Saturdays from 1 to 3 p.m. Classes will be taught by certified pergamano instructor Martha Levesque. Tuition: $12 per class.
“The ABCs” of Juicing: Saturday, March 18, 10 a.m. to noon. Attendees will learn what type of juicer is best and why juicing is so good for health. Juice will be made in class and samples of juices will be available to taste other fresh juices as well. This introduction to juicing class will be taught by certified raw food chef and coach Cheryl Horton, Living in the Raw. Cost is $20.
Make Your Own Earrings: Saturday, March 18, 10 a.m. to noon. Participants will learn in a class designed for beginners how to make two earrings using beads, head pins and sterling silver hook-style ear wires. They will be able to select from a variety of beads, including natural stones, crystals and glass. Tools and supplies will be provided. Class is taught by Lisa Marshall, who has a Precious Metal Clay certification. Tuition: $25.
Starting Your Garden from Seeds: Saturday, March 18, 10 a.m. to noon. Participants will learn all aspects of when to start and how to plant a vegetable, herb and flower garden from seeds. They will take home with a windowsill tray seeded with their choice of vegetable, herb or flowers. All supplies and tools will be provided. Classes will be taught owner and operator of Provenchers Landscape and Nursery, Roger Roberge. Tuition: $20.
Zentangle: Saturday, March 25, 10 a.m. to noon. Participants will learn a method of creating beautiful images from repetitive patterns. It is a fascinating new art form that is fun and relaxing. It increases focus and creativity. Supplies needed: one household pencil, one medium-point black Sharpie permanent marker and one 12- to 18-count box of medium-point colored magic markers. Class will be taught by Anita Poulin. Cost of class is $15.
Learn to make a Succulent Terrarium: Saturday, March 25, 10 a.m. to noon. Participants will create beautiful succulent planter. Succulent plants are low-maintenance plants. They will be able to decorate their terrarium with a variety of sands and fairy garden miniatures. Cost of class is $25. All tools and supplies are included. Class will be taught by Celeste Yakawonis, Party’n With Plants Maine.
