HALLOWELL — Avery Pomerleau and Reed Hopkins each netted hat tricks as the No. 3-seeded Cony/Monmouth/Hall-Dale Rams ousted No. 6 Edward Little, 8-4, in their Class A North quarterfinal at the Ice Vault on Tuesday.
The Rams (14-5-0) advance to the regional semifinal round to face No. 2 Bangor on Saturday at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.
Pomerleau and Cam Wilson netted first period goals for the Rams to stake the home team to a 2-0 advantage in the first. The Rams outshot Edward Little in the opening period, 13-2.
Two EL goals in the first half of the second evened the game at two apiece, but the Rams stormed back in front on a natural hat trick from Hopkins to go into the second break ahead by two again, at 5-3.
Two more from Pomerleau in the third helped ice the game for the Rams. Edward Little finishes its season at 5-14-0.
