NEW VINEYARD — A New Vineyard woman died Friday morning at a Lewiston hospital after she received severe head injuries in an all-terrain accident Thursday, according to Deborah Turcotte, spokeswoman for Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Service.

Wilma Touchette, 65, had been driving her four-wheeler down a private gravel driveway off of Pratt Mountain Road, to get to her vehicle to go to work, when she apparently tried to go around a sinkhole that had formed overnight.

The ATV rolled over and she came off it as it did.

Her husband, Ronald, followed her on another ATV about 40 minutes later and discovered the accident.

The couple has owned Shirt Tales, a custom screen printing business, on Main Street in Wilton for about 10 years, Wilton Assistant Town Manager Barbie Vining said.

Touchette died at 9:40 a.m. Central Maine Medical Center , Turcotte said.

The accident remains under investigation.
