SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — South Portland police say a 76-year-old missing woman has turned up in the snowy woods in Kokadjo, about 180 miles from home.

The woman’s family reported Friday she had been missing for three days. Police didn’t release the name of the woman.

South Portland Police put the woman’s name into the national missing and wanted persons database. Minutes later the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Office called and told them a snowmobiler had found the woman walking in Kokadjo about 18 miles north of Greenville.

She was found wearing only one shoe walking on a snowy and icy snowmobile trail. The Maine Warden Service, which found her car, said she walked at least two miles in the woods. She was taken to a Greenville hospital.
