FARMINGTON — A Franklin County justice sentenced a Wilton man on Thursday to serve 12 years of a 20-year sentence for sexually assaulting a girl under age 14 on April 22, 2016, according to court documents.

Following his release, Lance Woodbury, 40, will serve six years of probation. He is not allowed to have contact, direct or indirect, with anyone under age 18. He is allowed to to write to his sons, according to the document. He also cannot have any contact with the victim.

Woodbury, 40, pleaded guilty in March to a Class A charge of gross sexual assault.

A conviction on the charge carries up to 30 years in prison and a $50,000 fine.

According to a police affidavit, Woodbury denied having sexual relations with the girl in May 2016.

After he failed a polygraph test and was re-interviewed, he admitted to police that he “briefly” had sexual relations with the victim, according to Police Chief Heidi Wilcox’ affidavit filed with the court.

Woodbury was ordered by the court to comply with the Maine Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.
