WALES — Kyle Ames dropped in 27 points — including eight 3-pointers — as Boothbay defeated Oak Hill 69-57 in an MVC boys’ basketball contest on Thursday.

Jake Leonard chipped in with 19 points, while Carter Babcock had 11 points for the Seahawks.

Cohen Donnell had 17 points to lead the Raiders, while Marcus Bailey had 14 points and nine rebounds. Evan Boston also had 14 rebounds.

Both teams are now 6-4.

Oxford Hills 69, Mt. Blue 41

FARMINGTON — Chris St. Pierre led a trio of players in double figures Thursday as Oxford Hills hustled to a 69-41 rout over Mt. Blue in a mid-season boys’ basketball tilt.

St. Pierre led the Vikings with 14 points, while Spencer Strong tallied 13 and Matt Fleming added 12. Fleming tallied eight in the first quarter, providing the spark which ignited the Oxford offensive machine.

The struggling Cougars (1-9) were paced by James Anderson with a solid nine-point effort.

Cape Elizabeth 59, Poland 39

POLAND — After jumping out to a nine-point lead in the first frame, Cape Elizabeth raced away to record a 59-39 victory over Poland in more mid-season boys’ hoops action Thursday evening.

Finn Bowe led the Capers (7-2) with 18 points, highlighted by four shots from beyond the arc. Quinn Hewitt chipped in with 15 points in a well-rounded attack.

The Knights (2-7) were paced by Caleb Hodgkin with 12 points, while Nate Chouinard chipped in with 11.

Lewiston 48, Mt. Ararat 40

LEWISTON — Senior center Luke Madore notched a double-double with 21 points and 16 rebounds to power Lewiston to a 48-40 victory over Mt. Ararat in boys’ baksetball action Thursday evening.

Madore scored eight of his 21 points in the second quarter to keep the Blue Devils (2-8) in the game. Lewiston was tied 19-19 at the half.

Senior forward Desmond Jackson contributed eight points for Lewiston.

Junior center Steve Gerencer hit three field goals and two free throws to lead the Eagles (2-8) with eight points in the losing effort.

Madison 67, Lisbon 46

MADISON — Senior forward Mitch Jarvis compiled a game-high 21 points to lead Madison to a 67-46 triumph over Lisbon in boys’ basketball action Thursday evening.

Evan Bess scored nine of his 12 points in the final quarter as the Bulldogs (9-1) burst for a 21-5 margin in the frame. Junior guard Sean Whalen posted an impressive 19 points for Madison.

Junior guard Jonah Sautter tossed a team-high 12 points for the Greyhounds (5-4) in the losing effort.

Girls’ basketball

Monmouth 56, Hall-Dale 22

MONMOUTH — After building a 31-9 advantage in the first half, Monmouth stayed in high gear Thursday and raced away to a 56-22 rout over Hall-Dale in a mid-season girls’ basketball tilt.

Abbey Allen led the Mustangs (9-2) with 12 points, while Tia Day chipped in with 11.

The winless Bulldogs (0-11) were paced by Ellie Decker and Cat Kincaid with six points each, while Sabrina Freeman added five.

Boothbay 56, Oak Hill 29

BOOTHBAY — Boothbay sprinted out to a 19-point advantage in the first frame and pulled steadily away to record a 56-29 win over Oak Hill in a girls’ basketball matchup.

Page Brown led the undefeated Seahawks (11-0) with a game-high 27 points, while Sydney Meader chipped in with 11.

The Raiders (6-4) were paced by Sara Moring and Brianna Mulherin with six points apiece.

Winthrop 52, Wiscasset 16

WINTHROP — Winthrop went on a 19-2 tear in the second quarter Thursday to take control and raced away to post a 52-16 rout over Wiscasset in another girls’ basketball tilt.

Kena Souza led the Ramblers (4-4) with 12 points, while Aaliyah Wilson-Falcone chipped in with 11.

Hayhlee Craig paced the struggling Wolverines (1-10) with a seven-point effort.

Mountain Valley 74, Dirigo 27

DIXFIELD — Mountain Valley jumped out to a 14-point advantage in the first frame and easily raced away to a 74-27 rout over Dirigo in a lopsided girls’ hoops matchup Thursday evening.

Ashley White led the Cougars (7-2) with 21 points, while Ashley Russell chipped in with 20 in an effective two-player attack.

The Cougars (3-7) were paced by Sophia Jacques with five points, while Alyssa McTyre, Alexa Varnum and Kaicey Conant each added four.

Poland 44, Cape Elizabeth 32

CAPE ELIZABETH — Poland went on a 16-3 run in the second quarter Thursday evening and sped away to secure a 44-32 girls’ basketball victory over Cape Elizabeth.

Jess Seeley led the Knights (6-3) with 11 points, while Sarah Moody chipped in with 10. Morgan Brousseau also contributed with seven points in a well-rounded attack.

The struggling Capers (0-9) were paced by Erin O’Rourke with a solid 12-point effort, the only player to reach double figures.

Oxford Hills 57, Mt. Blue 34

PARIS — Junior forward Maighread Laliberte recorded 15 points in a balancd attack as Oxford Hills sailed to a 57-34 victory over Mt. Blue in girls’ basketball action Thursday avening.

The Vikings shut out the Cougars 14-0 in the second quarter for a 35-8 halftime lead. Julia Colby provided 11 points for Oxford Hills.

Freshman Lexi Mittlestadt tallied 10 points on four field goals, including a pair of three-pointers, for Mt. Blue int he losing effort.

Edward Little 49, Bangor 22

AUBURN — Sophomore guard Grace Fontaine drained 13 points as Edward Little crushed Bangor 49-22 in girls’ basketball action Thursday evening.

The Red Eddies (8-2) broke the game open in the second quarter with a fine press, taking a 30-11 lead into intermission. Chantel Oullette contributed 12 points for Edward Little.

Senior center Katie Bulter was the leading scorer for the Rams (4-6) with six points on two field goals and two free throws in the losing effort.

Madison 49, Lisbon 38

LISBON — Ashley Emery scored a team-high 12 points to lead Madison to a 49-38 victory over Lisbon in girls’ basketball action Thursday evening.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 24-12 halftime lead. Sydney LeBlanc chipped in with 11 points.

Kaylin Le paced the Greyhounds with 12 points, while Giana Russo found the basket three times, including twice from three point range, and three free throws for 11 points for Lisbon in the losing effort.

Lewiston 51, Mt. Ararat 27

TOPSHAM — Junior forward Victoria Harris drained a game-high 14 points and collected 10 rebounds to lead Lewiston to a 51-27 victory over Mt. Ararat in girls’ basketball action Thursday evening.

The Blue Devils (5-5) darted out to a 27-6 halftime lead, executing great defense along the way. Freshman guard Maddy Foster furnished eight points for Lewiston.

Senior guard Nikki Bradstreet tossed a team-high 13 points on five field goals, including three from three-point range, for the Eagles (2-8) in the losing effort.

Gray-New Gloucester 39, Wells 29

WELLS — Senior center Skye Conley poured in a team-high 13 points to lead Gray-New Gloucester to a 39-29 victory over Wells in girls’ basketball action Thursday evening.

Conley dished out 10 of her 13 points in a pivotal second quarter for the Patriots (10-0). Gray-New Gloucester converted a 10-point deficit into a 21-14 lead at halftime.

Sophomore point guard Brianna Jordan contributed 12 points for the Patriots.

Senior guard Natalie Thurber posted a team-high nine points for the Warriors (6-3) in the losing effort.

Girls’ ice hockey

Leavitt/Edward Little/Poland 4, Brunswick 3

BRUNSWICK — Senior forward Madison Simard scored a hat trick as Leavitt/Edward Little/Poland edged Brunswick 4-3 in girls’ ice hockey action Thursday evening.

The Dragons kept coming back from a one-goal deficit, but failed to come back the entire way from a two-point deficit in the third period. Beth Labbe scored two of the Dragon’s three goals.

Senior forward Haley Frohlich provided offensive support for the Red Hornets (8-2-1) with a pair of assists.

Brunswick goalie Marylyn Daniel was impressive in goal, making 26 saves to keep the game in constant reach.

Goalie Miranda Guimond made eight saves to earn the win in net for the Red Hornets.
