On Sunday, Jan. 8, my 93-year-old father was shoveling the 2 to 3 inches of snow from his driveway in Lewiston. Our families live several miles away, and it’s difficult to get there before he gets all the work done himself.

But on that day, a Lewiston Police officer was passing by and stopped his cruiser on the side of the road. As he walked toward my dad, my dad jokingly asked, “What did I do wrong?”

The officer simply smiled and replied, “Do you have another shovel?”

His act of kindness was well received and will not only be remembered by my father, but also my father’s entire family, as I am sure we will be hearing this story with great appreciation, over and over again.

Thank you, Officer Rousseau.
