LISBON — The School Committee on Tuesday evening re-elected Traci Austin as chairwoman and Kathi Yergin as vice chairwoman for the 2017 term.

The committee also approved of Superintendent Richard Green seeking proposals from firms for energy-saving work at schools and the Central Office as part of the Phase II Guaranteed Performance Contract Plan.

“What kind of company are we going to hire?” committee member Peter Reed asked.

“We can hire the same company we had before,” Green said. “But we have to legally request for qualifications and give everybody the opportunity.”

The committee hired Siemens last year for energy-saving work.

The committee also approved Green hiring Scott Simons Architects for up to $5,000 to complete the state funding application for major construction projects. The money will pay for updating the 2010 application that resulted in a new gym, and other major renovations at Lisbon High School.

Once the application is submitted and approved by the state, the funds will cover most of the work outlined in the five-year capital improvement plan. Work will include:

• Adding security cameras at schools and the central office;

• Installing a new boiler at the high school;

• Updating the kitchen at the central office; and

• Replacing carpet at Lisbon Community School with tile flooring.

In other business, the committee renewed the agreement with the Eagles hockey team, which includes Mt. Ararat, Lisbon and Morse high schools.
