FARMINGTON — Louie Edward Barker and Donna Patricia Sommer recently celebrated their 65th anniversary. The celebration took place at their favorite restaurant in Skowhegan — Ken’s Family Restaurant.

They were married in Farmington on Nov. 18, 1951, officiated by Attorney Peter Mills. For their 60th anniversary, in 2011, they restated their vows before relatives and friends in Strong, officiated by Paul Mills, Peter Mills’ son.

For their 65th anniversary, they were joined by their four children: Marla Ann and her husband, Dennis Dubay; Ricky Leigh and his wife, Francine; Randy Scott and his wife, Kathy; and, in spirit, their youngest son, Rodney Aaron.

The couple also has five grandchildren: Jessica Quimby, Jocelyn Hilton, Jennifer Getchell, Randy Barker II and Sabrina Macomber; and 13 great-grandchildren: Autumn, Abby, Ashlyn and Ricky Quimby, Kyle and Kassie Getchell, Troy and Emma Hilton, Chelse, Britney and Morgan Ashley Macomber, and Kassidy and Randy III Barker.

Most of their married life was spent in a home they built together next to Mr. Barker’s family farm on Barker Road in New Vineyard, later Madrid, and now residing in Farmington.
