This is in response to the article in favor of Question 2 written by John Kosinski (Sun Journal, Perspective, Oct. 30).
Once again, the liberal left are telling lies as fact, and they are not being called out or having the facts checked by the media. Case in point, in his article, fourth paragraph, Kosinski clearly states that a millionaire pays the same tax as someone making $40,000 a year, making it sound as if those individuals would pay the same amount. Nothing could be further from the truth, in more ways than one.
Based on current tax rates (with no deductions), someone making $1 million has a tax rate of 7.15 percent and would pay a tax of $71,500 per year, while someone making $40,000 per year has a tax rate of 5.8 percent would pay a tax of $2,840 per year. How is that the same and how are blatant lies like that allowed to be published without any fact checking?
Misleading articles like that may help sway elections because most people don’t check the facts and they take what is printed as fact and nothing could be further from the truth.
I don’t think it is right that the people who are creating the jobs in this state and paying 25 times more than the average person pays in income tax should be treated as criminals and told they are not paying their fair share. Really?
