1962 – 2016

WALES — James Lyndon Spaulding, 54, went home to his heavenly Father on Sunday, Oct. 9.

He was born in Lewiston on Sept. 17, 1962, the son of Lyndon and Donna Spaulding of Wales. He was educated in local schools and went on to Word of Life Bible College in New York state, Maine Bible Institute in Hermon and Washington Bible College in Virginia, where he completed a bachelor’s degree in biblical studies. While at Word of Life, he met Beth Walker of Benson, Vt. They were married in 1982 and were blessed with two sons. They separated in 1989.

He married Stella Malo in 1991. She died in July 2011 after many years together in Florida. In August 2012, Jim married Ruth Hughes of Virginia. They were separated in 2014 and Jim moved to California to work.

Jim served as pastor of Litchfield Plains Baptist Church in the 1980s and Canton Baptist Church in the 1990s. He was a carpenter and self-employed contractor for many years in Maine, Florida, Virginia and California. He was blessed with a beautiful tenor voice and sang for the Lord any chance he could. He always found time to share his faith in Christ and loved to help others.

After many years of struggling with bipolar disorder and the last nine months fighting cancer, he is at rest.

He leaves behind his parents, Lyndon and Donna Spaulding of Wales; two sons, and three grandchildren, Joshua Spaulding and his wife, Beverly, of Boston , Mass., and their twins, Patrick and Haley; Caleb Allen and his wife, Jennifer, of New Gloucester and their son, Caleb Jr.; and three step-grandchildren, Devon, Jonathan and Alexis; his three brothers and their wives, Frank and Judy Spaulding, Russell and Barbara Spaulding, and Jeffrey and Ramya Spaulding; his sister, Kelly Duquette and her husband, Paul; five nephews and five nieces; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Donald and Margaret Severy and Clair and Ruby Spaulding.

The family wishes to express our gratitude to the Hospice House staff, Dr. Austin and the visiting nurses for the kind and efficient care given to Jim during his last days. May God bless you all.
