JAY — Brian Hewett fired a shot into the net just six seconds into overtime to give Leavitt a 2-1 victory over Spruce Mountain in a KVAC boys’ soccer tilt Friday.
Hewett gave the Hornets a 1-0 advantage in the first frame before Austin Gilboe tied things up for the Phoenix. The two squads went scoreless during the second half.
Lucas Perry made five saves for Leavitt, while Andrew Shaw deflected 10 shots between the posts for Spruce Mountain.
Greely 8, Poland 0
CUMBERLAND — Greely defeated Poland 8-0 in a WMC boys’ soccer match Friday afternoon. Hunter Graham, Dylan Fried and Lucca Pfruender had two goals each in the victory.
Chris Theodores and Quinn Molloy also scored for Greely (5-6). Matt Thebarge made 18 saves for Poland (0-12).
Skowhegan 2, Mt. Blue 1
SKOWHEGAN — Sam Bolvin found the net with 17 minutes left in regulation to give Skowhegan a 2-1 win over Mt. Blue in a late-season boys’ soccer tilt Friday.
Spencer Stevens gave the Indians (2-9) a 1-0 lead in the first half. Sam Smith tallied for the Cougars (1-7-3) in the second frame.
Gavin Patton made nine saves for Skowhegan, while Tucker Carleton turned aside one shot for Mt. Blue.
Lewiston 4, Messalonskee 1
LEWISTON — Muktar Ali and Maulid Abdow registered a goal and an assist each as Lewiston secured a 4-1 victory over Messalonskee in KVAC boys’ soccer action Friday afternoon.
The Eagles scored first on a penalty kick from Joseph Kouletsis at the 35-minute mark of the first half.
The Blue Devils (10-1) responded with a pair of goals three minutes aparat to close the stanza at 2-1.
Goalie Chase Warren made six saves for Messalonskee, while goalkeeper Alex Rivet prevented four to earn the win in net for Lewiston.
Girls’ soccer
Brewer 4, Oxford Hills 2
PARIS — Maria Low scored two goals as Brewer earned a 4-2 victory over Oxford Hills in girls’ soccer action Friday afternoon.
The Witches (6-5) scored three goals in the second half.
Ceceila Deiterich and Abby Spinhirn accounted for the Vikings’ (1-10) goals.
Goalie Krystin Paine made nine saves for Oxford Hills, while goalkeeper Rose McLaughlin turned back nine to earn the win in net for Brewer.
Gray-New Gloucester 3, Lake Region 0
GRAY — Izzy DeTroy led a trio of players to register goals Friday as Gray-New Gloucester hustled to a 3-0 late-season win over Lake Region in girls’ soccer action.
Alexa Thayer and Grace Terry also tallied for the Patriots (6-5) to complete the scoring. Emma Woods contributed with a pair of assists, while Abby Michaud also added an assist.
Chelsea Davis made two saves for Gray-New Gloucester, while Madison Rock deflected four shots for Lake Region.
Field hockey
Boothbay 2, Mountain Valley 1
RUMFORD — Sydney Meader scored the second of her two goals with 5:56 left in the first half to give Boothbay a 2-1 win over Mountain Valley in a field hockey matchup Friday.
Meader converted a pass from Lilly Sherburne early on to give the Seahawks a 1-0 lead. Marissa Crosby scored for the Falcons (4-9) after the break to prevent a shutout.
Erika Eames didn’t make a save for Boothbay, while Alyssa Akers turned back four shots for Mountain Valley.
