SABATTUS — Selectmen on Tuesday appointed Chairman Mark Duquette to an ad hoc committee formed to discuss changing the Regional School Unit 4 funding structure.

Town Manager Tony Ward also will serve on the committee, along with members from Litchfield and Wales. JP Curran will serve as an alternate. 

The committee is scheduled to meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at the Wales Town Office.

In other business:

• The board signed the warrant for the 2016 municipal election on Nov. 8. The terms of Selectmen Andre Marquis and Chairman Mark Duquette are expiring. Duquette is running for re-election and Rick Lacombe is running for the other vacant seat. Selectman Andre Marquis is not running for re-election.

• Ward and Road Foreman Gary Labonte will meet this month with Pine Tree Engineering and All State Material Group to conduct a study on town roads as part of a five-year maintenance plan.

• The Police Department has received $6,700 from a drug forfeiture that occurred in 2014. The money will be used for training and equipment.

• St Laurent & Son Inc. was the lowest qualified bidder for winter salt and sand and was given the contract after passing the town’s specifications.

• The board discussed the deterioration of the Sleeper Dam on Sabattus Pond. Ward will put out a request for an engineer to inspect the dam.

• The Fire Department is expecting delivery of a new tanker truck by the end of this month. This money was in the 2015-16 budget.

• The board accepted a bid of $300 to Brookside Auto Services for the 2006 Ford Taurus.

Selectmen will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, at the Town Hall.
