1952 – 2016

FARMINGTON — Gaili Sawyer Sinkinson, 64, of Farmington, died Sunday, July 31, at my home surrounded by the two loves of my life, my husband, Robert Leonard Pierce, and my daughter, Thai Hannah Wright Sinkinson, in addition to my beloved Arrow.

I was born April 22, 1952, Earth Day! Which is appropriate because I was very much a Taurus. My family, my home, my art, music, gardening and nursing (which I finally passed down to my daughter) were imperative to me being who I was.

Thai, the joy of my life! Now grown even greater by the two greatest grandchildren a grandmother could ask for, Caleb Tobin and Ayda Marie. My granddaughter is a fourth-generation “Jackie.” God help you, Thai. Thank goodness you have a smart, loving, kind son to help you and Matt. You’ve done well. All your hard work has paid off and will keep you looking for answers and helping others.

I am so very proud — and I still have not cut the cord. I am grateful she has found a man, as I have, with my other half, Robert, and my stepson, Lauchlan, who loves her as much as she loves him. Thank you, Matt Childs, for being that man.

I have been blessed with such wonderful friends. The people in my “tribe” have helped me along the way. I hope that you know who you are because there are too many to mention. It has not always been easy, but there is not much I would change.

I was fortunate enough to have some great adventures, including living in a tepee for a year with Thai’s father, Roger Wright. My travels with Susy Lamb, and Susi Pearson, as well as with Elizabeth Richards (my Loco), and so, so many more. Janet, you have always been our Mountain Mama, thank you for everything. The best for me was the trip to Ireland with my love, Robert, and he asked me to marry him.

I am a Yankee girl through and through. Born in Rhode Island but conceived in Maine on Clearwater Lake. Home is where the heart is and this has always been my home. This is where I will stay. Onward I march to the next big adventure! I ask God to help me along this new path. Remember, just because you don’t see me does not mean I’m not there.

The precious memories of Clearwater have been the most vivid. Thank you to my parents, the Rev. George E. Sinkinson Jr. and his wife, Jacquelyn D. Sinkinson, who predeceased me in 2005, then 2006.
