DEAR SUN SPOTS: I hope you or some of your readers can help me. I am an older woman with large breasts. My shoulders are in constant pain from the bra straps. I have tried many kinds (of bras). There used to be a place that did custom fittings. I don’t have a computer to check this out. Perhaps someone can help me find out where I may have a fitting done. Thanks in advance. — No Name, No Town.

ANSWER: It may be a bit more expensive than purchasing a bra at a department store, but as a woman with more than a few years of bra-wearing experience, Sun Spots can identify with the need for a good fitting and supportive brassiere, particularly when a woman has larger, and therefore heavier, breasts. Etain Boutique, at 646 Congress St. in Portland, offers a wide range of bra sizes and does custom fittings by appointment. You can reach them by calling (207) 370-7278. Another location that does custom fittings is Soma Boutique in the Maine Mall in South Portland. You can reach them by calling  (207) 228-1044.

More locally, and perhaps a better fit for your particular needs, is the staff at Transitions at Bedard in Auburn. The medical supply store offers custom bra fittings and a selection of larger bra sizes all the way up to 52G. In addition, they offer special shoulder pads designed to alleviate shoulder pain. You can contact them to arrange for a custom fitting in their private dressing rooms by calling (207) 784-3700.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Would you please list the gas stations in Lewiston that pump gas for you? Thank you for your invaluable service. You’re the best. — Muffy, Lewiston.

ANSWER: Sun Spots often yearns for the days of old when gas station attendants pumped your gas and offered to check your oil. There are fewer and fewer places that still offer such customer service in this fast-paced, self-checkout world. Fortunately, there are still a couple of places in Lewiston that do and Sun Spots will drive out of her way to enjoy the convenience and service at the following locations and any others who offer full-service gas attendants. Yvon’s at 7 Lincoln St. has gas attendants as does Grimmel’s Gas Up on Lisbon Street. J & S Oil Xpress Shop and Convenience Store on Lisbon Street in Lewiston also offers full service for a small premium over their self-serve prices. Perhaps readers know of some other Lewiston locations they’d like to share.

Sun Spots would like to note that most gas stations will have an attendant pump your gas for you if you have a physical limitation that requires assistance, but you’ll have to ask.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Lewiston-Auburn area has been receiving a flier from Market Basket in the Sun Journal for quite a while now. Do you know if we are ever going to be fortunate enough to have one built in our area? Competition is good for everyone. — No Name, Lewiston.

ANSWER: Not yet. Currently the only location Market Basket has in Maine is in Biddeford. Rumors of expansion further into Maine have been circulating for a while now, but the company has not officially released information on its plans.
