MEXICO — A local man and woman were arrested Friday for the second time in less than three months for dealing cocaine, according to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
Randy Aron, 40, and Jessica Pare, 40, were each charged with Class A aggravated trafficking of cocaine base and violating their conditions of release, MDEA Commander Scott Pelletier said.
The two were taken to the Oxford County Jail in Paris and held without bail.
Conviction of a Class A crime is punishable by up to 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000.
According to Pelletier, drug agents raided Pare’s apartment at 60 Main St. at 3:30 a.m. with assistance from the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office, the Rumford and Mexico police departments and Maine State Police.
Officers found nine grams of prepackaged crack cocaine, suboxone strips and $8,350 in cash. Some of the cash had been used to buy drugs undercover, Pelletier said.
Suboxone is a prescription medication to treat adults who are dependent on opioids.
Pare rented the apartment and was Aron’s live-in girlfriend, Pelletier said.
Aron and Pare were among seven people arrested by the MDEA on March 1 on charges of dealing cocaine at the couple’s home at 12 Angie Lane in Mexico. They were released on bail on the condition that they not commit crimes or have contact with each other.
On April 6, Aron and Pare were seen by police driving together in Rumford, and when Officer Brad Gallant pulled their car over, Aron fled and Pare was arrested on charges of unlawful possession of a scheduled drug, operating after suspension, attempting to elude an officer, refusing to submit to arrest and violating conditions of release.
Pare was later released from jail on $1,000 cash bail.
Officers were unable to find Aron at the time.
Since then, Pelletier said, the couple moved to 60 Main St. and “continued to sell crack cocaine.”
State drug agents and local law enforcement officers seized over $8,000 in cash and 9 grams of prepackaged crack cocaine early Friday morning at the apartment of Jessica Pare, 40, and Randy Aron, 40, at 60 Main St. in Mexico, officials said.
