DIXFIELD — Regional School Unit 10 directors appointed a teacher and a coach, and accepted a resignation at their Monday night meeting.
Dirigo Middle School science teacher Dave Buck was named gifted and talented teacher for Dirigo middle, high and elementary schools.
Josh Shaw was appointed as Dirigo High School girls’ varsity soccer coach.
The resignation of school nutrition worker Vickie Bonney was accepted.
In other business, Buildings and Grounds Director Kenny Robbins outlined projects he hopes will be completed during the summer, including:
• Replacing the Mountain Valley High School gym roof;
• Repairing of the Dirigo High School roof and movie the air conditioners;
• Installing security cameras at Dirigo Middle School;
• Installing air conditioning and a new boiler at Hartford-Sumner Elementary School;
• Paving at Rumford Elementary School; and
• Paving at Dirigo Elementary School and septic system work.
Robbins said 320 students will attend the district’s summer school program and bus transportation is being arranged. He said three new buses will soon arrive.
In other matters:
• More than 20 teachers districtwide are planning to attend two days of technology instruction during August;
• Dirigo High School and Dirigo Middle School Principal Michael Poulin said a positive reinforcement program has been initiated at both schools; and
• Former board member Frank DiConzo was welcomed as the newest member of the board. He replaces Brad Gallant, who did not seek re-election.
A special board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, at the Central Office, 33 Nash St., Dixfield, to discuss replacing Superintendent Craig King, who is leaving Aug. 15 to become superintendent of SAD 15 in Gray.
