LIMINGTON — Maine state police say the body of a man reported missing by his family on Friday has been found in the backyard of his neighbor, who has been charged with murder.

State police spokesman Stephen McCausland says the body of 55-year-old Douglas Flint of Limington was found by police dogs Saturday in the yard of 57-year-old Bruce Akers. He said Akers has been charged with murder and is scheduled to appear in York Superior Court on Monday.

McCausland says Flint’s relatives reported him missing to local sheriffs. His body was taken to the medical examiner’s office in Augusta for an autopsy.

Police did not say how Flint was killed.

It was not immediately known whether Akers has a lawyer.

McCausland said more details will be released on Monday.
