LEWISTON — Thursday, June 9, is the last day voters can get absentee ballots for the June 14 election.

According to the City Clerk’s office, 506 absentee ballots had been requested as of Wednesday.

The number is higher than it was on May 20, when City Clerk Kathy Montejo said only 165 absentee ballots had been requested, and she was worried people would forget about voting in the June primary.

The City Clerk’s office will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Voters can get an absentee ballot by calling 513-3124, ordering one online at www.ci.lewiston.me.us/voter, or visiting the clerk’s office on the second floor of City Hall.

On the ballot will be the school budget for a second time, the elementary school construction project and elected offices for both Republicans and Democrats.

Turnout for the school budget vote May 10 was 2.8 percent. It failed to pass by six votes, prompting a second referendum.
