Mystery Photo for June 19, 2016

Last week’s mystery photo of a tree sculpted by chainsaw artist Josh Landry is in the front of 70 Green Street in Winthrop. Homeowner Donna Cheney wanted to do something creative with the dying 100-plus-year-old maple tree, so she contacted Landry. The sculpture, “Tree of Life,” was completed in 2014 after an intensive 16 days of work by Landry, who uses more than a half dozen various sized chainsaws. Landry recommends that these natural works of art are treated every year with natural oils in order to preserve them. In a random drawing, Pauline Therriault of Monmouth was chosen as the winner of a $20 Hannaford Supermarkets gift card.
