What a wonderful article — “Get Defensive” — in the B-section of the May 29 Sun Journal. Mark LaFlamme did a great job gathering that most important information. The contributors all had very valuable tips to save people’s lives.

I think the pointer to not turn a vehicle’s wheels to the left when preparing for a left turn until ready to make that turn is a major one. Just this afternoon, driving behind a cement truck waiting to turn left, I noticed the truck’s wheels had been turned in that direction. Just think of a cement truck propelled into the opposite lane … yikes.

The tips were very important and I am keeping them all in mind as I get behind the wheel of my vehicle. As a former educator, I think all high school students should have to read and discuss that most important article.
