AUBURN — Charles Plummer will present “An Introduction to the Philosophy of Freedom and Liberation” at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, in the Androscoggin Community Room at the Auburn Public Library.

Plummer’s presentation offers what he calls “a guided tour of the byways of the philosophy of freedom and liberation beginning with its ancient roots in Greece and stretching as far as ancient India and ending in modern-day America.” His primary goal is to help those in attendance gain a deeper understanding of the timeless concepts of freedom and liberation in light of modern-day politics, political campaigns, ideology and rhetoric.

Plummer is a longtime instructor at the Senior College and teaches at Schooner Estates. He is well-known in the Twin Cities area for giving historic presentations of Generals Ulysses S. Grant and Joshua Chamberlain, dressed in their military uniforms. He also does historic presentations as President Abraham Lincoln.

The presentation is part of the library’s Primetime Adventures program, a collaboration between the University of Southern Maine Lewiston-Auburn Senior College and the library.

The program is free and open to the public.
