Brain Injury Support Group to meet
RUMFORD — Western Maine Brain Injury Support Group will meet from 6:15 to 8 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month at 82 Congress St.
The support group is for individuals who have suffered brain injuries and their caregivers.
A traumatic brain injury results from damage to brain tissue caused by an external force. Leading causes are motor vehicle accidents, acts of violence, falls, sports and recreational injuries, lightning strikes, electric shocks and blows to the head. Injuries can occur without any outward physical evidence of injury or trauma. Examples include whiplash and shaken babies.
Acquired Brain Injury results from damage to the brain caused by strokes, tumors, anoxia, hypoxia, toxins, degenerative diseases, near drowning and/or other conditions not necessarily caused by an external force.

Oxford Hills AARP to meet
PARIS — The Oxford Hills Chapter of AARP will meet at noon on Monday, May 8, at the First Congregational Church on East Main Street.
Lunch will be a ham and cheese quiche, vegetables and dessert. The cost is $7, and reservations are required by Friday, May 6.
The business meeting will begin at 12:45 p.m. and will include installation of officers. Entertainment will follow.
Members are reminded to support the local food pantry, and the book/puzzle swap will continue.

Food pantry annual meeting
NORWAY — The Oxford Hills Food Pantry will have an annual meeting at 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 9, at Christ Episcopal Church.
All volunteers are requested to attend.
Supper, dance in Locke Mills
LOCKE MILLS — A supper and dance will be held from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, at the American Legion hall.
Music will be provided by the Shadagee Ramblers. The meal will include baked ham, mashed potatoes, vegetables, rolls and assorted pies. Doors open at 4 p.m.
Admission to both supper and the dance costs $12; supper only $7, dance only $5.
Stephens Class ’55 to meet
RUMFORD — The Stephens High School Class of 1955 will meet at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, at the River Valley Grill for its monthly luncheon and meeting.
