AUGUSTA — The Maine Military and Community Network will hold its sixth annual Maine Military and Community Network Conference on July 21 at the Augusta Civic Center.

Appearing at the event will be the Hon. Robert McDonald, Secretary of the Department of Veteran Affairs; and Dr. Naomi Simon, Home Base Program, Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital.

The day will consist of military and veteran educational workshops and networking opportunities. Between the morning keynotes, there will be a panel of veterans sharing their experiences while transitioning to civilian life. There will be three afternoon tracks to choose between: behavioral health, community-building and employment successes and challenges.

This Maine Military & Community Network is a community effort to understand issues veterans face and to help them deal with the lingering aftereffects of war, as well as helping their families and their communities. It works to raise awareness about challenges faced by service members and their families; resources that exist to help them; and connect service members and their families to their Maine communities.

Resources from the community, state and federal agencies will be available.

Registration is $40 per person. The cost for military and veterans is $25.
