1930 – 2016
TOGUS — Paul Rene Vallee passed away on Sunday, March 20, at the VA Hospital in Togus.
He was born in Lewiston on April 1, 1930, the son of Semi Rodrigue and Rhenda Leda (Vallee) Therrien Preo. He was raised in foster homes although his family consisted of 14 children, 10 brothers and four sisters.
He attended Lewiston schools, graduating from Lewiston High School, Class of 1950.
On July 21, 1950, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, initially for four years. With multiple re-enlistments, he served a total of 20 years and 10 days, retiring as staff sergeant (E5). He was stationed in Loring Air Force Base, Maine; Glasgow Air Force Base, Montana; and he served in Vietnam, just to name a few of the military bases. He is a member of the VFW, Knights of Columbus, and served as 2nd District Commander from 1982-83 of the American Legion. He was a lifelong member of Post 22 District 3.
Paul was married three times. His first wife was the former Pauline G. Marquis (1938-2014); their marriage ended in divorce. His second wife was the former Marguerite Elizabeth Remick (1916-1985), whom he married Feb. 12, 1972. His third wife was the former Gloria Rita LaGace (1935-2012), whom he married on Feb. 14, 1987.
Paul is survived by seven half-brothers, Leo Therrien, Marcel Therrien, Lucien Therrien, Maurice Therrien and Robert “Bobby” Therrien of Lewiston, and Gary Therrien and Ronald “Ronnie” Therrien; and his four half-sisters, Jacqueline “Jackie” Therrien Lebel, Irene Therrien Begin of Salem, N.H., Jean Therrien, and Claudette (Therrien) Milligen of Durham. He is also survived by a son, Rene Paul Vallee of Lewiston.
Paul is predeceased by a daughter, Theresa Pauline Vallee (1957-1978); a brother, Norman C. Therrien (1932-2011); and a half-brother, Wallace “Wally” Godfroyd Therrien (1933-2014). He is also predeceased by all three of his wives.
