1941 – 2016
LEWISTON — Ann Smith, 74, of Lewiston passed away Monday, March 14, surrounded by her daughters and brother, Art.
Ann was born July 21, 1941, in Lewiston to Arthur and Evelyn Hastings. While she spent most of her life here, she made the move to California where she had many adventures and friends.
She was a self-described people person, which served her well in the hospitality field. She had fond memories working at Happy Jack’s and Sings restaurants. While in California, she worked in property management, which she loved and had many stories to tell.
Ann was devoted to her faith and often, if not every time you departed, she would say, “Dial ‘J’ for Jesus and ‘A’ for Ann,” if there was anything you should need. She enjoyed watching Sunday Masses, as her faith was important to her.
Her passions included singing and dancing. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bingo was one of her favorite activities, as was making people laugh. She had many friends that she enjoyed, whether it was on the phone or in person, and she was thankful for them all.
Ann is survived by her brothers, Arthur and his wife, Patricia, of California, and Larry and his wife, Caroline, of Lewiston. She is also survived by her children, son, James of Ohio, three daughters, Joanne and her husband, Bruce, Diana and her husband, Howard, and Jeanie and her husband, Devin. She had 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, of whom she was proud and loved very much. She is also survived by an aunt, cousin, niece and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; brother, Robert; and a son, David, with whom she will rest with in California.
