DIXFIELD — The Regional School Unit 10 Wellness Center will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at the superintendent’s building on Nash Street.
RSU 10 athletic trainer Travis Parent, who also teaches physical education at Dirigo High School, said the facility was formerly known as the Dirigo Fitness Center.
“There will be booths for different services available, along with a potluck of healthy dishes and giveaway door prizes,” he said.
The Wellness Center includes resistance training machines, squat racks, free weights, treadmills and ellipticals.
“When I first was hired by the school district to be their athletic trainer, I was very impressed with everything that this place had to offer,” Parent said. “It’s clean, has a lot of equipment, and it’s just a friendly environment to be in.”
Several vendors at the open house will be centered around health and fitness.
“The River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition will be there to talk about their ‘Move and Improve’ program, and I’ll have a booth set up for personal training and fitness,” Parent said. “There will also be some students at the open house to talk about the different services at the student center.”
For those interested in joining the center, the cost is $10 a month for individuals and $15 a month for couples.
