The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency says it arrested two Rumford residents on drug charges.

Rashaud Lavoie, 23, and Marianela Rodriquez, 39, were arrested Friday in their Oxford Avenue apartment.

Both were charged with aggravated trafficking in schedule drugs, Class A and Lavoie also was charged with violation of conditional release.

On Friday, March 4, agents from the Western District Task Force, officers from the Rumford Police Department and deputies from the Oxford and Franklin County Sheriffs’ Departments executed a search warrant at 26 Oxford Ave. 

Agents said they found and seized evidence of drug trafficking within the apartment as well as 7.5 grams — 75 doses — of Fentanyl. Approximate street value of the Fentanyl is $1,500 dollars.

Fentanyl is frequently sold as heroin or mixed with heroin unbeknownst to the purchaser. The presence of Fentanyl greatly increases a person’s chance of overdosing.

In August, Lavoie was arrested in the investigation of the overdose death of a Bethel man. He was charged with trafficking in heroin and released on bail.

Lavoie and Rodriquez were transported to the Oxford County Jail where no bail was set for Lavoie. Rodriguez’s bail was set at $15,000 cash. Both were scheduled to appear in Oxford Unified Court on Monday.
