Time Warner Cable has announced that as many as 320,000 customers may have had their email addresses and passwords exposed in a data breach.
It has been reported that Time Warner was informed by the FBI about the situation and that the FBI was also contacting other internet service providers that had been affected, so announcements from other email service providers may follow, according to York Police.
Of particular concern are Time Warner customers who have an email address via the Roadrunner service and whose address ends “@rr.com.”
These customers will be contacted by the company with information about resetting their passwords.
If you have used the same password to access other accounts or to transact banking business via the internet, please change those passwords immediately.
The breach was initially reported on Jan, 7. York Police are reminding customers to change their passwords.
