FARMINGTON — The Arts Institute of Western Maine will present “Music for Clarinet and Piano” with Karen Beacham and Martin Perry at 3 p.m., Sunday, March 6, in Nordica Auditorium.

Karen Beacham is currently band director and music department co-chair and district coordinator in the Mount Blue Regional School District. Prior to that she was on the applied music faculty at Colby College. An active performer, she has played with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Portland Symphony Orchestra and Nordica Trio. In 2014 she was awarded “Maine Music Educators Music Teacher of the Year.”

Martin Perry, a graduate of Juilliard, has distinguished himself as a consummate interpreter of contemporary classical piano music, with appearances across the United States and abroad, and recordings on RCA Red Seal and Bridge Records. He has performed with many orchestras including the Boston Pops and Moscow Philharmonic.

Together they will perform music for clarinet and piano in varied styles from the 20th century by composers from England, Germany, France and the United States.

Concert admission will be $12 for adults but free for children 18 and under, and for UMF students with ID. Tickets will be available at the door.
