DIXFIELD — The Regional School Unit 10 board unanimously appointed Kim Fuller as principal of Meroby Elementary School on Monday night.
Fuller was appointed interim principal last fall after Melanie Chasse resigned.
Fuller has taught in RSU 10 for 12 years and has 26 years of teaching experience.
Also Monday, the board accepted the resignation of assistant superintendent and curriculum coordinator Ann Bell. Gloria Jenkins, who retired from that position at the end of the 2014-15 school year, will serve part time until the end of June.
In other matters, the board held a 25-minute executive session with its attorney, Eric Herlin of Drummond Woodsum. The nature of the meeting was not disclosed and no action was taken afterward.
The board approved of about eight Lego League members at Buckfield Junior-Senior High School going to the University of Arkansas for three days of competition in May. Principal George Reuter said students will raise money for the trip.
Mountain Valley High School Principal Matt Gilbert updated the board on an emergency response plan, saying he has been working with local emergency service groups and Maine State Police.
Dirigo High School Principal Michael Poulin told the board that through the Bridge Program, some students can enroll in several online courses at the University of Maine at Fort Kent. They can also enroll in a University of Maine at Farmington psychology course offered by a UMF instructor at the Dixfield school next month. The cost to students will be much lower than at the campus.
It was announced that the following will retire at the end of this school year: Buckfield Junior-Senior High School social studies teacher Diane Nye; Dirigo Elementary School teacher Deborah Touchette; and Mountain Valley High School special education educational technician Priscilla Prevost.
