FARMINGTON — A Woodstock woman is accused of forging lodging invoices and charging them to the consulting firm she worked for, which in turn requested reimbursement from the Maine Department of Transportation.

Sheila E. Curtis, 50, of 11 Concord Pond Road, was indicted Jan. 21 on one felony count each of theft by deception and forgery.

A conviction on each of the charges is punishable by a maximum of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.

The combined value of the lodging reimbursements is more than $10,000.

HRV Conformance Verification Associates Inc., headquartered in Moon Township, Pa., is a consulting firm that inspects bridge parts, Assistant Attorney General Leanne Robbin said Tuesday.

According to indictment documents, Curtis submitted 18 invoices indicating she had stayed at Sugarloaf Mountain Hotel in Carrabassett Valley multiple times between June 7, 2015, and Oct. 10, 2015. She also submitted one invoice for lodging at the Valley House in North Anson from June 3, 2015, to June 6, 2015.

“She is accused of forging lodging invoices for expenses that she did not incur,” Robbin said.

Attempts to reach Curtis on Wednesday were unsuccessful.
