WESTBROOK — Jared Conant, a happy and energetic 11-year-old from Yarmouth, has been named the state of Maine Goodwill Ambassador for the Muscular Dystrophy Association for his second term.

As the new Goodwill Ambassador, Conant will make public appearances representing individuals and families living with muscle disease. MDA ambassadors play an essential role in motivating the public to help MDA through donations and volunteer action.

Jared is the son of Barry Conant. At the age of 8, he was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, one of the muscle diseases covered by MDA’s research and care programs.

Conant is in the sixth grade. He enjoys swimming and playing on his local Little League team and was named Yarmouth’s Little League Player of the Year for 2015. Conant is active in the community as he is the field manager for the high school’s football team and the soccer team’s statistician.

He enjoys attending MDA summer camp, building with his Lego collection and playing with his dog, Autumn.
