RUMFORD — Black Mountain of Maine announced Thursday that it has canceled the hill climb planned for Saturday, Dec. 19, because of mild temperatures.

The hill climb is a timed race up the mountain for snowmobilers, who also have the opportunity to compete in head-to-head grudge matches.

The next hill climb is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, according to Black Mountain’s website.

An employee with Black Mountain said Thursday afternoon that General Manager Jim Carter and his staff are determining whether the mountain will open Saturday, Dec. 26, as originally planned.
