1932 – 2015
SANDPOINT, Idaho — Rose Fredstrom passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, Gloria, on Wednesday, Dec. 9, in Sandpoint, Idaho.
She was born in Lewiston on April 16, 1932, the daughter of Alfred and Rose Tancrel. She was the third daughter and the seventh child of nine. She was always proud of her French-Canadian heritage.
She married Joseph Paul Belanger of Lewiston in February 1950. She lived most of her adult life at her home in San Diego, Calif., where she met her second husband, Darrel A Fredstrom of Sandpoint, Idaho. They returned to his hometown in 1996 once he retired from the U.S. Navy.
She was active in the farmers markets, selling jams. She enjoyed quilting, painting, playing games and traveling. She was beloved by her friends, social clubs and the pets she kept over the years. She was a sweet and funny woman who loved to cook for her family.
She is survived by her four children, Pamela Crawford, Nancy Savage (Kevin), Gloria Hanson-Savage (Ronald) of Sandpoint, Idaho, and Dennis Belanger (Debbie) of Lemon Grove, Calif.; and her siblings, Beatrice Wailus, Burt Tancrel (Muriel), Sister Wilda Tancrel, and Norman Tancrel (Marie); her eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Darrel A Fredstrom.
