This is a reply to Nancy Willard’s letter (Nov. 13) which labeled me and other conservatives as having “extreme political views.” She said I did not substantiate the “horrific” things I said the Democrats do. If the Sun-Journal allowed me more than 250 words I would be glad to give references for my facts.

It is a well-known fact that the 30-plus years of a Democrat majority in the Maine Legislature ended with a large unpaid debt. Gov. Paul LePage and financial guru Bruce Poliquin began to solve that, particularly insisting on paying the hospitals what they were owed.

The current Democrats’ Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) was passed without one Republican vote. It’s hundreds of pages were basically not reviewed. It contained a number of hidden elevated taxes. The premium costs have grown, co-pays increased and deductibles are higher in most of the country.

Why do the Democrats continue to defend this poorly structured program instead of lending their efforts toward solving the program’s problems?

Willard referred to the oil pipeline proposed in the Midwest and global warming. Pipelines don’t cause air contamination. They can bring a less-expensive product to those who burn it, like most of the homes in Maine.

Democrats tend to deal with feelings; Republicans deal in facts.
