1920 – 2015

LEWISTON — Emile J. Caron, 94, of 102 Campus Ave., Lewiston, died Saturday, Nov. 14, at d’Youville Pavilion, following a short illness.

He was born in Lewiston on Dec. 11, 1920, the son of the late Narcisse and Josephine (Boucher) Caron and had been a resident of this community all of his life.

He had married the former Leda Gagnon; she died in December 2001.

Emile was employed as a weaver at the Bates Mill for many years until his retirement.

He was a member of the Ligue du Saint-Nom De Jesus of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul and the Society of Saints Peter and Paul. Emile volunteered 11,000 hours at d’Youville Pavilion, of which he was very proud.

Emile enjoyed dining out with his family and friends. He also enjoyed baking meat pies and cakes and was a very good cook. Emile loved going to Old Orchard Beach and traveling to Canada and going on picnics with his family. Most of all, he enjoyed putting smiles on people’s faces.

Through his volunteer work, Emile took care of many patients and made friends with their families located throughout Androscoggin and Cumberland counties.

He is survived by two sons, Henry Caron and his wife, Norma, of Gilroy, Calif., and Richard Caron of Saco; two grandchildren, Troy Caron and his wife, Staci, of Springfield, Mo., and Michelle Caron of San Jose, Calif.; two great-grandchildren, Cole and Ava Caron of Springfield, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, he was predeceased by a son, Paul Caron, who died in 2002; and by six brothers and two sisters.
