Game 1: Oak Hill 42, Old Orchard Beach 14. OOB was one of only two teams to score first against Oak Hill all season, driving the length of the field on its opening possession. Then it was all Raiders and Dalton Therrien, who erupted for 433 all-purpose yards in the victory. Therrien completed 13 of 17 passes for 283 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed seven times for 150 yards and two more scores. The Oak Hill QB answered the Seagulls’ early score with a 59-yard run. Later, he rambled 60 yards for a TD and also threw three of them before the half: 25 yards to Connor Nilsson, and two to Colby Spencer for 20 and 60 yards. Levi Buteau also had a 57-yard TD run for the Raiders. Buteau and Cruz Poirier combined for 150 yards on the ground.
Game 2: Oak Hill 20, Dirigo 14. Matthew Strout pounced on a Dirigo fumble 11 yards from a potential game-winning touchdown for the Cougars, and Raiders ran out the clock. Sophomore Cruz Poirier notched 84 of his team-high 98 yards in the second half, much of it after the fateful turnover. Oak Hill sacked Dirigo QB Riley Robinson four times. Therrien ran 74 yards to the end zone on the Raiders’ first play from scrimmage. He punctuated the half with a 42-yard touchdown pass to Jonah Martin, who eluded two tacklers along the home sideline to give Oak Hill a 20-7 lead. Therrien was responsible for 158 of Oak Hill’s 198 total yards in the first half. Buteau also had a TD run for Oak Hill, which dodged a comeback typical of the rivalry. Oak Hill and Dirigo have played 10 times since 2009, with six of the games decided by a touchdown or less.
Game 3: Oak Hill 42, Boothbay 13. Therrien stole the show again, running for two touchdowns, throwing another to Jonah Martin and combining for 186 total yards. He received plenty of support. Buteau rushed for 135 yards and two scores. Poirier had a touchdown, while Spencer spearheaded the defense with an interception. Boothbay scored its touchdowns with big gainers: a run in the first quarter and a hook-and-ladder play late in the half. Oak Hill led 35-13 at intermission. Therrien’s scoring runs were from 2 yards and 1 yard. Martin’s TD reception covered 15 yards. Buteau delivered the knockout, an 80-yard scamper to cap the first quarter and give the Raiders a 28-7 lead.
Game 4: Oak Hill 34, Telstar 0. The Raiders moved around many of its offensive personnel and didn’t hold its foot to the accelerator against the winless Rebels. Martin, the team’s leading receiver, lined up in the backfield and rushed for three first-half touchdowns of 10, 2 and 59 yards. Therrien completed 5 of 10 passes for 101 yards, including a 45-yard TD to Darryn Bailey in the first half. Danny Buteau capped the scoring with a 2-yard run in the third quarter.
Game 5: Oak Hill 28, Winthrop/Monmouth 19. Therrien did his usual damage at QB, but he also lined up at wingback and caught the Ramblers off-guard for what was a pivotal 51-yard TD run. Through the air, Therrien was 7-for-12 for 92 yards, including a 10-yard touchdown toss to Martin. He also ran 15 times for 113 yards, adding a 4-yard option keeper for a score on the final play of the third quarter. The Raiders’ defense was stellar. Oak Hill sacked Winthrop/Monmouth quarterback Matt Ingram six times, led by Connor Elwell’s hat trick. Martin intercepted a pass and Buteau recovered a fumble, each in the second half, to deny another Ramblers’ comeback. Oak Hill scored on three of its first four possessions, beginning with a Buteau TD run at the end of a long, impressive march.
Game 6: Oak Hill 27, Lisbon 18: Elwell jarred the ball loose from Lisbon QB Tyler Halls’ grasp on an option keeper midway through the second quarter. Steven Gilbert cradled up the friendly hop and scampered 67 yards for a game-tying touchdown that turned the tide. Oak Hill rode that momentum to another quick stop, highlighted by Strout’s sack of Halls, and then ran the two-minute drill to perfection. Therrien was 5-for-5 to four different receivers on the drive, punctuated by Nilsson’s first scoring grab with 35 seconds remaining in the half. Therrien rushed for the two points and a 14-6 lead. Therrien later tacked on a 24-yard toss to Nilsson and a 25-yard scoring run. Oak Hill won despite running only 38 plays, less than half Lisbon’s total.
Game 7: Oak Hill 32, Traip 6. Oak Hill wrapped up the second undefeated football regular season in school history and its first since 1982. Therrien threw three touchdowns and Poirier rushed for two more to lead the Raiders, who already had clinched the top seed in the regional playoffs. Therrien threw a 23-yard touchdown strike to Nilsson only 1:37 into the game. The Raiders piled up three more scores in the final 9:22 of the second quarter. Therrien (6-for-8, 117 yards) threw 20 yards to Martin and later connected with Spencer for a 23-yard tally. Poirier ran it in from 4 yards out just before the half. He tacked on a 5-yard TD before Traip got on the board.
Game 8: Oak Hill 48, Traip 6 (Class D South quarterfinal). Therrien was a touchdown machine. He passed for four and ran for a pair to fuel the Raiders’ rout. He amassed 256 total yards on only seven pass completions and three runs. The defense was outstanding after giving up a long TD run early in the game. Gilbert led the way with an interception. Brian Thorpe recovered a fumble. Therrien hooked up with Martin for TDs of 49 and 35 yards in the first quarter, then raced to the end zone on keepers of 63 and 47 yards in the second. Nilsson and Bailey caught TD passes before the half to put the Rangers well out of reach. Poirier scored in the second half.
Game 9: Oak Hill 13, Winthrop/Monmouth 6 (Class D South semifinal). Therrien threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Nilsson on the opening play of the fourth quarter. Oak Hill subsequently stopped two red zone drives by fourth-seeded Winthrop/Monmouth to preserve another trip to the regional final. The Ramblers answered the Raiders’ score with a 16-yard strike from Matt Ingram to Nate Scott on fourth-and-8 to reach the Oak Hill 25. Two plays later, Strout broke through the line, punched the ball out of Dustin Tripp’s hands and recovered it as he fell to the turf. Oak Hill also stopped a drive on downs in the closing seconds. Therrien (7-for-13, 106 yards passing; 19 carries for 104 yards rushing) scored on a QB sneak in the second quarter before two safeties and an Alec Brown TD put the Ramblers in front.
Game 10: Oak Hill 21, Lisbon 20 (Class D West championship). For the second consecutive year, the regional final between the Raiders and Greyhounds was decided by a loose ball in the shadow of the goalposts. After Lisbon’s third unanswered touchdown of a brilliant second-half comeback ended in a botched extra point, the Raiders ran out the final 5:18 to win and advance to another state final. Therrien logged the final nine carries, capped by a sliding fourth-down conversion as time expired. Oak Hill’s QB dominated the first half with his arm and three short TD runs on a cold, windy afternoon. He amassed 231 total yards as the Raiders extended their winning streak to 20 games. Lisbon used a long throw from Halls to Henry Adams and an interception return by Adams to set up its first two scores. It was the first pick thrown by Therrien in 118 attempts this season. Noah Francis and Halls notched the TDs to bring Lisbon within 21-14. Francis found the end zone from 19 yards away for what would have been the tying touchdown, but the Greyhounds fumbled the snap on the PAT. Halls rolled out and threw a desperation pass against the grain, but Austin Goucher knocked it down. Oak Hill defeated Lisbon for the eighth consecutive time dating back to 2012.
