Flanked by his parents and coaches, Fleming became the fourth Vikings athlete to commit to Maine since 2012, joining Dexter and Davis Turner (football) and Mikayla Morin (soccer).
“We are thrilled that Andrew wants to be a Black Bear,” Maine coach Bob Walsh said in a release. “He is a high character young man who is an excellent student and his talent and toughness will really fit with the culture of our program. As a versatile forward who is physically and mentally tough, he can help our team in a lot of ways.”
Fleming, a 6-foot, 7-inch forward, averaged 16.6 points, 11.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.9 steals during his junior season. In 2014-15, Fleming helped guide Oxford Hills to an Eastern Maine Class A quarterfinal appearance. Fleming, ranked as the top 2016 recruit in Maine by the New England Recruiting Report, competed with his U17 AAU team at the Division-I 11th-grade national tournament in Louisville, Ky.
