HALLOWELL — Gaslight Theater will stage “A Murder is Announced” by Agatha Christie, adapted for the stage by Leslie Darbon.

In “A Murder is Announced,” the residents of Chipping Cleghorn are astonished to read an advertisement in the local newspaper that a murder will take place this coming Friday at Little Paddocks, the home of Letitia Blacklock. Staying at the house is Miss Blacklock, Bunny, Julia and her brother Patrick, Phillipa and Mitzi the housemaid.

Unable to resist, the Swettenhams, along with the neighbors, gather at the house at the appointed time when the lights go out and a gun is fired.

When two murders have taken place, Miss Marple and a detective must work their way through a house full of suspects.

Miss Marple, using her excellent deductive skills, determines the facts of the crime.

The play will be staged at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 13 and 14; at 2 p.m. Nov. 15; at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 20 and 21; and at 2 p.m. Nov. 22.

Performances take place at Hallowell City Hall, 1 Winthrop St.

Tickets cost $12 for adults and $10 for seniors and students.
