WALES — The fates of Sabattus Primary School and Libby-Tozier School were discussed at the Regional School Unit 4 school board meeting on Wednesday evening.

The process of construction, the potential of combining these schools, the cost for architectural design and the effect on next year’s school budget were some of the things the board analyzed, Superintendent Jim Hodgkin said.

Hodgkin explained that this is only the beginning phase of the project. Moving forward, he will prepare instructions for the board illustrating the details of the consolidation and construction process.

In other news, Amedeo Lauria attended his final board meeting on Wednesday night. Lauria, a representative from Sabattus, served on the board for three years. Board Chairman Robert English thanked Lauria for his commitment and service.

Adam Dorman and Josh Bisson, both residents of Sabattus, are running to fill the two vacant seats on the school board. Dorman is serving the board on an interim basis following the resignation of Will Fessenden in August. Voting will take place on Nov. 3.

A student who was expelled from Oak Hill High School petitioned the board to be re-admitted. During executive session, the board approved the student’s request.

At 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, the board will conduct a roundtable workshop to discuss various components of education at Oak Hill Middle School.

The next board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 18, at Oak Hill Middle School.
