LEWISTON — The L/A Cash Coalition is looking for volunteers for the 2016 tax filing season. Needed are persons willing to be tax preparers and appointment schedulers.

Tax preparers would volunteer at least one three-hour shift per week over the 10-week filing season at the Lewiston Memorial Armory. Training is available online through the IRS Link-and-Learn Program, and free training classes will also be held in early January.

All returns prepared are reviewed by on-site reviewers who support the volunteers and answer questions to ensure accurate return completion.

Schedulers can volunteer from home on their own computers or at Lewiston City Hall.

Last year, the LA Cash Coalition assisted more than 2,700 taxpayers. Those interested in volunteering may contact site coordinator KC Geiger at 240-5649.
