OTISFIELD — The Board of Selectmen unanimously appointed Marc Corriveau to the Conservation Committee on Wednesday evening.
Chairman Hal Ferguson told Corriveau that the board is trying to talk to everyone applying for committee positions, “whether we know them or not,” about why they want to be appointed and what their goals are.
“We spoke with (Conservation Committee Chairwoman) Maureen Mooney-Howard, and she said she thought you’d be a good fit,” Ferguson said.
Corriveau said he has taught outdoor education courses for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife in the past.
Administrative Assistant Anne Pastore lauded Corriveau, adding that he was a “huge asset” to the town’s Recreation Department.
“He’s a coach, and he does a fabulous job,” she said. “He gets along very well with people.”
In other business, Pastore told the board that Field Electric of Oxford has installed LED lights in the Town Office conference room.
“After they installed it, they told me that the room was now using one-seventh less energy than it was before,” she said.
The installation was part of an Efficiency Maine program that offers 80 percent rebates on installation of energy-saving LED fixtures.
At the board’s April 19 meeting, Pastore said Efficiency Maine did an energy assessment of the Town Office building and determined that to replace all of the lights with LEDs it would cost $8,655.06, with the town only responsible for $1,418.
The board voted at the April 10 meeting to move forward with the program.
