DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Cadet Civil Air Patrol program for ages 12-21 which meets at 6 p.m. every Thursday, at Auburn/Lewiston Airport, is in need of donated Air Force uniforms as well as Battle Dress Uniforms. Donations of any and all sizes of trousers, coats, blue shirts, hats, black boots and low-quarters uniform shoes, and garrison hats will be appreciated. This program teaches young people about aerospace education, leadership training, physical training and moral leadership. Cadets can also learn to fly solo. To make a uniform donation, contact SM Jerry DeWitt at 207-576-0376 or jdewitt@tcmhs.org.
We are a 501(c)3 organization. All donations are tax deductible at fair market value. All are welcome to attend a meeting. We presently have 22 cadets in the program. Parents of sons and daughters are welcome to join as senior members. Civil Air Patrol is the auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force since 1941.
HELLO SUN SPOTS: I had written to you about this before, but now I’ve noticed the New England Patriots’ logo in your paper is no longer backward. I’ve included a photocopy of the backward version and the correct version. Also, I am asking again: Why is there no Sun Spots on Sunday? I have another question. Are there any flea markets in Lewiston-Auburn? I have some things I’d like to sell. I know there is one in Lisbon. Thanks again. — Joe A. in Auburn.
ANSWER: Sun Spots is published six days a week which is enough time to publish the queries that come in to the column in a timely manner. On Sunday, the space is used for other columns and information. There is no need at the present time to publish the Sun Spots column seven days a week.
Sun Spots does not know of any flea markets in Lewiston-Auburn, only in the surrounding areas. Maybe readers will write in with information about local flea markets that was not found in my search. Have you considered placing a classified ad in the Sun Journal?
You can run a classified ad in the Sun Journal for free if the merchandise you are selling is worth less than $500. For 10 days, a three-line ad can run for free. A three-line ad is 12 words, no more than that, and that count includes your telephone number as a word. Additional lines may be added for a fee. Ads for pets, garage sales, commercial businesses, real estate, firewood, collectibles and antiques do not apply to this free offer.
You can place your ad online at sunjournal.com. You can fax a form found in the classified section of the newspaper to 207-784-3062 or you can mail it to Sun Journal – Department C, P.O. Box 4400, Lewiston, ME 04243-4400. You can place your ad over the phone at 800-482-0753 or 207-783-2281 but there is a $5 charge for phone orders. You can run five simultaneous free ads.
