NEW GLOUCESTER — Shameek “JoJo” Yuelle, 37, died on Monday, Sept. 14.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Oct. 18, 1977, the son of Randall Yuelle and Patricia (Garcia) Korhonen.

JoJo moved to Maine when he was 13 and grew up in Lewiston. He played basketball, skied at Lost Valley and danced. As a dancer, he had entered many competitions and even won a few, but he was especially proud that his dancing once got him on MTV.

JoJo was a great father, who focused all of his attention on his family and took care of everyone. He was aspiring to go back to school to be a drug counselor for young adults.

JoJo is survived by his wife, Kathryn (Lefebvre) Yuelle; daughter, Britney Garcia; son, Gunner Yuelle; stepdaughter, Jamie Nelson; stepson; Joseph Nelson; his mother, Patricia Korhonen; maternal grandmother, Cornelia Reeves; sisters, Kendra Korhonen, Jelissa Garcia and Tish Ford; and brothers, Timothy Wing, Jeffrey LaFlam and Marshall Mercer.

He is predeceased by his father, Randall Yuelle.
