BANGOR (AP) — Police say a Virginia woman accused of stabbing two women at the Bangor Mall has been indicted on aggravated assault charges.

The Portland Press Herald reported (http://bit.ly/1LxHJB9 ) 34-year-old Elizabeth Ellis of Alexandria, Virginia, is accused of attacking two women in separate incidents on June 2.

Authorities said Ellis attacked the women from behind and stabbed each victim in the shoulder. Both were taken to Eastern Maine Medical center with injuries not considered life threatening.

Ellis remains held at the Penobscot County Jail on $35,000 bail. Police said she had turned herself in, saying the attacks were unprovoked and that she is not well.

She is facing up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $20,000. It was not immediately known if she had a lawyer.
