1956 – 2015
PORTLAND — Christopher E. “Chris” Mason, 58, of Farmington died Friday, Aug. 21, at Maine Medical Center, with family by his side.
He was born Dec. 30, 1956, in Springfield, Mass., a son of Fred and Violet (Swanson) Mason. He was a 1974 graduate of Erskine Academy and earned a degree in history from the University of Maine at Farmington.
For many years, he was employed by ServiceMaster. He later worked in the maintenance department of Regional School Unit 9 and was a history teacher at the Western Maine Christian Academy. He will be remembered for his sense of humor.
He is survived by his daughter, Alexandra K. “Alix” Mason and her fiance, Sean Penney of Augusta; his son, Erik Mason of Atlanta, Ga.; his mother, Violet Mason of Farmington; two sisters, Beth Carlson of Livingston, Texas, and Leslie Swan of Farmington; two brothers, Jonathan Mason and his wife, Sue, of Apple Valley, Minn., and Joshua Mason and his wife, JoAnna, of Gardiner; nieces and nephews: Nick, Derek, Fred, Hannah, Gunthar, Calvin and Lorelei.
He was predeceased by his dad, Fred Mason.
