POLAND — Paula S. Surrey, 68, of Poland died Tuesday, Aug. 18, at her home with her loving husband by her side.

She was born in Maryville, Mo., the daughter of the late Sterling and Caroline Surrey. She graduated from Tufts University in Massachusetts and later received her master’s degree in social work from New York University. She was a gifted psychotherapist who loved her work and her patients. She also loved animals, especially her dogs and wolves.

Paula will be remembered for her smile and compassion and her wonderful marriage.

She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Dr. Steven Gershman of Poland; her brother, David Surrey and his wife, Michelle Fine, of New Jersey; and her nephews and nieces.
